Chile joins EUIPO's Designview

Since July 22nd of this year, Chile’s Intellectual Property Office, INAPI, has made its registered design database available through Designview. This platform, run by EUIPO and free of charge, now allows its users to search for industrial designs registered in 64 different intellectual property offices.

With this new addition, more than 4500 registered designs have now been added to the platform. INAPI is the 64th IP office worldwide, and the eighth in Latin America to join this initiative, after Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Peru and Uruguay.

INAPI Chile recognised as 2nd most innovative IP Office in the World

The World Trademark Review (WTR) has ranked INAPI Chile as the 2nd most innovative IP Office in the world in 2019, only after the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

The WTR is a well-recognised website and magazine covering commertial and international practice of trademark law.

In addition, Mexico was ranked 6th, Peru 14th and Colombia 22nd.

List of Geographical Indications from Latin American countries recognised in the EU

Thanks to the great effort done by several countries in Latin America, many of their Geographical Indications (GIs) are being recognised in the European Union (EU).

Chile, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Peru and Mexico, already reached to Agreements with the EU with that purpose.
