Check the new EUIPO and OECD Report on Trade in Counterfeit Pharmaceutical Products

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) have published a new Report on Trade in Counterfeit Pharmaceutical Products.

In accordance to the report, just in 2016  the total value of counterfeit pharmaceuticals traded worldwide was up to EUR 4.03 billion. The top five counterfeited products seized by customs during the period 2013-2016 were: antibiotics, sexual impuissance treatments, painkillers, anti-malarial and diabetes treatments.

European Commission launches eTranslation tool for EU SMEs

The European Commission has just launched a new translation tool "eTranslation" for EU SMEs. 

eTranslation can translate any document or text to and from 27 different languages.

The tool may be used, as well, to translate any Intellectual Property document or plain text to any of the different official languages of the EU.

Patents registered in Europe, being territorial rights, have no legal effect in any of the countries in Latin America. However, through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) it is possible to seek simultaneous patent protection for an invention in several countries by filing a single “international” patent application instead of filing separate national applications.
