IMPI Mexico grants non-traditional trademarks for the first time

IMPI Mexico has started granting smell, sound and corporate image (known in the international context as trade dress) trademarks.

Last May 2018, Mexico amended its Law on Industrial Property including the possibility to register non-traditinal trademarks. These type of trademarks have been granted by IMPI and, according to this institution, they have already received 400 applications in 6 months.
