As the protection of software is under the general regulation of Copyright, the systems are quite similar and connected, but some key aspects should be noted. The first specificity of software protection is that it is made via the Industrial Property Office (INPI) instead before Biblioteca Nacional.The author can apply his/her source code not to be published, and remain confidential.
Another key-aspect is the term of protection: 50 years counting from January 1st of the subsequent year of its publication or creation.
Also, the author of a software does not enjoy the right to remove from circulation its work, contrary to the literary works.
