ICT is one of the most dynamic technological areas in Costa Rica. It includes more than 900 companies, 95% of which are SMEs, becoming a n interesting sector which important challenges related to international collaboration and partnership .

The Latin America IPR SME Helpdesk will implement a training session in the frame of the Elan Netwok's event ICTs in environment, health and high performance computing as key for technological business opportunities, organized by CeNAT in collaboration with CONICIT, EARTH University and TECNALIA.

The workshop will take place in San José (Costa Rica), the 20th of September. The day after, our Intellectual Property Expert will be available for bilateral meetings with companies and institutions that want to share their experiences, be assisted or know more about the Helpdesk and potential collaboration actions.

The topic of the tranining will be Patents in Central America, with special focus on Costa Rica. Attendees will have the chance to know 

  • how can they protect their inventions properly
  • what can be patented and not
  • what happens if they disclose their inventions in trade fairs or magazines
  • have an overview on the procedural aspects to bear in mind (costs, timing, local representative, etc.)
